Executive and Management Team
Henry was appointed as CEO of Co-op Money NZ and Co-op Insurance NZ in 2010 and has broad expertise, spanning over 30 years in the financial services industry.
Henry has held senior management and executive roles at Westpac and Tower Insurance and was CEO of Dorchester Life and Catalyst Risk Management Ltd. His core competencies cover strategy, payments, banking, insurance, sales and marketing and finance at executive level. Henry holds a number of Governance roles including Director of Co-op Insurance NZ and Director of NZ Martial Arts Institute. He is a past Board Member of The Insurance Council of New Zealand and is a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Henry holds a sixth degree black belt in the Japanese martial art, Aikido and was inaugurated into The New Zealand Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2009 and inducted into the Australasian Martial Arts Hall of Fame in 2012.
David Smart is Chief Financial Officer with over 10 years as head of Finance at Co-op Money NZ.
During his tenure, David has had responsibility at various times for all areas and products within Co-op Money NZ. He also led the introduction of Co-op Money NZ’s ACCESSCASH ATM network and banking services products. Prior to joining Co-op Money NZ, David was a lecturer at the Auckland University of Technology in Financial Management, Accounting and Banking for 8 years, a Director of Arbuthnot Latham Bank (UK) and Group Internal Auditor at NZI Bank.
David lives in Auckland and his interests include reading, travel and sport.
Jonathan Lee was appointed to the Executive of Co-op Money NZ in February 2011, and leads the organisation’s business development activities for Co-op Money NZ and its subsidiaries Co-op Insurance NZ and Co-op Services NZ.
Prior to joining Co-op Money NZ, Jonathan held a number of senior roles both in New Zealand and overseas in Canada and the United Kingdom. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Business Studies from Massey University and a Master of Business Administration from Henley Management College in the UK.
Jonathan lives in Auckland and his interests include tennis, golf and spending time with his young family.
Deane Johns was appointed as Chief Information Officer of Co-op Money NZ in August 2011.
Deane has extensive experience in a broad range of insurance, IT and service delivery roles. Deane began his career after completing a Bachelor of Science at Victoria University. He worked for Royal Sun Alliance for 15 years initially as an Underwriter and Claims Settlements Manager. Deane was previously employed by Gen-i as Programme Manager, responsible for a large team managing the ERP upgrade for a large New Zealand Corporate.
Deane has a strong understanding of strategic issues, IT roadmaps, project governance and proven leadership experience.
Graham was appointed to the role of Insurance & Group Capability Manager in April 2016. This was a newly created role to provide singular management of our insurance operations and the responsibility for the Group performance and capability of our people.
Graham has approximately 35 years’ experience in the service sector with 20 years in the Insurance industry. He has held a number of senior management and executive level roles during this time, with his primary experience being in the field of human resource management. More recently he has had a more operational focus reviewing the business processes of organisations with the view to improving efficiencies and customer service delivery.
Graham lives on Auckland’s North Shore and is a keen gardener and cook.
Steve is responsible for supporting Co-op Money NZ’s Members to meet compliance and regulatory obligations. Steve’s role entails advocating on behalf of members on legislative and regulatory changes and providing guidance and developing tools to assist Members in their dealings with prudential supervisors, regulators and other authorities. Alongside this, Steve is also responsible for supporting Co-op Money NZ in its management of its internal business risk and compliance obligations.
Steve’s background is in banking and financial services, with the last 6 years focused on compliance.
Steve’s interests include cross-fit, sudoku puzzles and playing snooker.
Natasya’s role is to deliver learning and development initiatives that enhance the capabilities of our people and improve the overall performance of the Co-op Money NZ Group and our Members.
Recently she completed a contract at 2degrees Mobile where she developed Leadership programmes and created training material for software implementation programme.
Prior to that she was at Fisher & Paykel Finance, Geneva Finance, IAG, Sovereign Insurance.
She is married with three busy boys, Freddie 4, Leo 7 and Carl 42 who take up the majority of her spare time. At the moment her family is landscaping so spend a lot of our time shifting soil and planting.
Toby’s role is to lead the Infrastructure Team. His team takes care of components from hardware (e.g. servers, workstation, and switches), Networks (e.g. internet connectivity, firewalls) and software (e.g. groupware/email, databases, and remote desktop services).
He has a broad technical background in IT with more than 15 years of experience and have worked for SMBs as well as big international corporations.
